As soon as the weather warms up in the spring, the local box turtles can be found trolling the property.  Of all the critters that I share my space with, the turtles are the least destructive.  Each year they return to the same general area to mate and lay eggs.  My rich loamy soil is perfect for that, and a freshly tilled seedling bed us usually where they end up.

Queen Tut spent a lot of time in the flower beds around the porch last spring.  It wasn't until early June when I discovered what she was up to.  I've seen this before, but I'm always amazed at how they can cover the eggs as though nothing was there.

Right- I was supposed to be weeding the seedling bed, but spent most of my time gathering up these little guys.  They get moved to a safe spot on the other side of the property.
